Better batteries and beefier ESCs can greatly improve the top speeds in these cars, but this can put a LOT of strain on the system causing lots of random things to break. The motor then maxes out at an RPM much lower than the builder intended… and you get a “slow” run. What usually ends up happening is the motor pulls so much current trying to just get the car rolling that the system voltage sags to a really low level. For many cars, this means running impossibly low gear ratios or extremely high battery voltages to get real speed. The problem for speed runners is that you really need to generate really, really high RPMs at the wheels to achieve high speeds. Since Mechanical Power = Torque * RPMs, this means that the motors can produce VERY high levels of torque at pretty low RPMs, which is AWESOME for drag racers, big monster trucks, rock crawlers, or wheelie popping bashers. You see, very large brushless motors typically have pretty low KV ratings, meaning they are designed to produce their peak power at fairly low RPMs. Sometimes this makes perfect sense…., but sometimes it does not. This is the guy who puts a Castle 15-series motor and Mamba XL X ESC powered by 8S LiPos in a 1/10 scale touring car…. We all know that guy who insists on stuffing the absolute biggest motor and ESC possible into their cars, whether it makes sense or not. Copying another builder’s setup without understanding the decisions they’ve made is a great way to destroy expensive hardware (and it makes you look like a jerk). Even though two cars may look the same, there may be some big differences under the hood, especially in ESC tuning. Just keep in mind, NEVER EVER COPY SOMEONE ELSE’S SETUP. Each category has its own strengths and weaknesses, but the fastest guys try to take lessons from each group and apply them to their builds where they best fit. In my experience, new speed builders usually fall into one of 3 basic categories: “Torque Monsters”, “KV Kings”, and “Killa-Volters”. I’ll talk about good starter platforms in a later post, but for now let’s just say that an “inexpensive” platform that you can easily fix after a crash (because you WILL crash) might be a better addition to your Christmas List. For example, if you are just getting into speed running or drag racing, building a Mamba XL X powered, 8S, 1/8 scale (ROSSA 808 class) world record contender may not be your best first move. You also have to be honest with yourself about your goals and your skill level as a driver. You really have to invest a little time and think about how all the pieces work together and tune your ride for your goal. Again, there is no one right path, but if you don’t appreciate what makes each one unique, you can actually pick hardware that works against itself and ultimately wastes a lot of time and money and can actually make you slower.īefore I begin, it’s important to point out that just throwing the biggest or most expensive hardware into a car rarely results in a fast RC. Unfortunately, you really need to have a decent understanding of each of these paths before you can pick the right direction for your particular build. The problem is that many guys do not realize that there are several paths that can get you to some really nice speeds for speed runners (and drag racers). ![]() One of the most frequent questions I get asked is “How can I make my car Really FAST?!!” This is usually followed by a really vague description of the ride in question and a wish list of shiny new parts to be shoehorned into the poor little car. Uruguay and Cuba have exported over 1 million live parrots each since 1975. The largest exporting country of parrots is South Africa, yet the Latin American continent dominates this trade. However, the result of the craze was that most kept as pets died before reaching one year old. The influx in the iguana trade reached its peak in 1995, when 3 million iguanas were exported worldwide. Although some were transported to zoos, as investigated below, green iguanas are the most popular imported exotic pet in many countries. The most exported live animal worldwide since 1975 is iguanas – over 34 million have been traded. Taking a look at these figures can give us some insight into which animals are being traded. The Countries That Exported The Least Live Animals In The Last 46 Years Since 1975, Ghana has exported over 6 million live animals, and for Indonesia and Peru, the figure is close to 8 million. Some of the largest trading countries have exported just a fraction of the number of animals as the major players. The fifth-largest exporter, South Africa, has exported just more than half as many live animals as the clear giant El Salvador. Looking further down this list, it’s clear to see the difference between the number of exported live animals from different countries. A significant fraction of all exported animals was made up by iguana and pond turtles – popular choices for pets in the States. The United States’ ranks as one of the biggest exporters of live animals. However, China’s 2020 ban on the trade and consumption of terrestrial wild animals in response to COVID could see their position change in the coming years. China, 16.0Mįollowing closely behind is China, which has exported 16 million live animals including sturgeon, pond turtles and monkey species. Most of their exports are iguana and tortoises. The world’s largest exporter of live animals is El Salvador, which has exported over 19 million animals since 1975. The Countries That Exported The Most Live Animals In The Last 46 Years Rules on granting such documents tightened and protections for animals born and bred in captivity were introduced. The mandate introduced a standardized application process for countries to be granted permits and certificates, which made the live animal trade a more strictly regulated process. The downward trend came alongside the introduction of the CITES 2006 Commission Regulation. ![]() In total, around 200 million live animal trades have taken place since 1975 and the trade is largely dominated by a few influential countries.Īlthough in 2006 just over 5 million live animals were exported, compared to 6.3 million the previous year. Since then the biggest spike was in 2018 which was the biggest year for live animal trades. Wildlife trading has been wide-scale since the 1990s, however, it reached its peak from 1999-2003 when around 7 million live animals were traded each year. Due to the growing consumer demand for animal products in the form of clothing, food and accessories the wildlife trade is vast and profitable. ![]() Please note that WEDNESDAY mornings between 9:00am & 10:00am are reserved for SENIOR CITIZENS. To avoid any last-minute scrambling, we recommend setting aside 10-15% of your total vendor costs as a contingency for tips. This is often an unexpected wedding cost that can easily sneak up on couples who are on a tight budget. While it's not technically required, it is customary to tip your wedding vendors (think: officiant, photographer, band/DJ, etc.). Be realistic about what you can afford and don't try to copy someone else's dream wedding-make yours unique! It's okay if your wedding is simpler or low-key than what you see on social media-in fact, it'll likely be more memorable (and affordable!) that way. Pinterest is a great place to get inspiration for your wedding, but it's important to remember that not every wedding needs to be straight out of a magazine spread. There are tons of beautiful (and affordable!) dresses out there, so take your time and find one that fits both your style and your budget. Your wedding dress is probably the most important part of your outfit for the big day, but that doesn't mean it has to be the most expensive! It's easy to get caught up in the moment and overspend on a dress you'll only wear once, but try to resist the temptation. Be sure to factor these things into your budget so you're not caught off guard later on. Things like postage, gratuity, taxes, and travel costs can really add up if you're not careful. When you'rebudgeting for your wedding, don't forget about hidden fees that can add up quickly. There are a lot of great wedding planning apps that can help with this, or you can create your own spreadsheet. This will help you stay organized and on budget. Once you start booking vendors and making payments, it's important to keep track of all your expenses in one place. Once you've decided how much you're willing to spend on each vendor, add a 20-30% cushion to your budget in case any unexpected costs come up. Keep in mind that popular vendors will likely charge more than less popular ones. Good vendors book up fast, so it's important to have an idea of how much you're willing to spend on each one before you start contacting them. Sit down with your fiancé and figure out what you can afford to spend before you start looking at venues or booking vendors. Creating a budget is the best way to avoid overspending on your big day. This might seem obvious, but you'd be surprised how many couples don't sit down and figure out how much they're willing to spend on their wedding before they start planning. There are different of athletic tapes you can get today, such as the following: It features a zinc-oxide based glue which is strong and adheres to the skin well. Athletic tape is a stiff material that can reduce joint movement. Let’s dive into it without getting too scientific. Medical tapes come in different sizes and colors. It works wonders.Shop our kinesiology tape now Shop Now What are the different kinds of medical tapes? The slack also allows the tape to almost stick to the rings, which can give you more confidence in your grip!Ĭheck out this blog for another muscle-up tape job idea I’ve also used. For you perfectionists out there, it will feel a little sloppy, but if you pull the tape too tight, there’s a good chance the tape will bust open when you’re on the rings, exposing your skin and defeating the purpose of the tape. Step 3: THE MOST IMPORTANT KEY HERE is if you’re using white tape you’ll need to leave a little slack in the tape. Step 2: Wrap your wrist three or four times around, making sure you’re wrapping low enough to cover the entire area of your wrist that rubs against the rings when you’re doing muscle-ups. Step 1: Cut a piece of tape-either ROCK tape or athletic tape both work for this-long enough to wrap around your wrist 3 or 4 times. I ALWAYS rip my wrists if I log more than 12 muscle-ups, so I usually use this tape job as a preventative measure first and foremost. These often come from false gripping on muscle-ups. Again, athletic tape is fine for the wrists. If you don’t do this step, the tape will start peeling off your wrist as you’re working out. Wrap it around the wrist to cover up the two ends of the ROCK tape. Step 4: Cut another piece of tape-this time athletic tape-about 6 to 8 inches long. Step 3: Repeat Step 2 one, two or even three more times, depending on how much padding you think your rip needs. Pat it down with your other hand to make sure it is stuck nicely to your skin. Stick it to your palm, cover the rip, wrap it around the closest finger, and pull the tape back to the base of the wrist on the inside of your hand. Step 2: Place one end of the tape on the inside of the wrist. Essentially, you will need enough length for the tape to start at the base of your wrist, wrap around your finger, and then extend back to the base of your wrist. ROCK tape is stretchy, so you don't need as much as if you're using athletic tape, where you'll need 10 to 12 inches, depending on how big your hand is. Step 1: Cut 2 to 4 pieces of ROCK tape about 6 to 8 inches long. Tape grips work, but I also find it works just as well to stick the tape directly to your hands, especially if you have super sticky ROCK tape. Some athletes- like in this video-choose to create gymnastics-like grips with athletic tape that they can re-use over and over. These guys are trickier, especially if they’re not in the centre of the hand (it’s a bit more awkward to get the tape to stick nicely when the rip is close to your pinky finger or your pointer finger).įor taping, ROCK tape works best for these rips, but cloth athletic tape is ok, too. ![]() Step 3: Wrap the tape around (2 to 3 times around) your finger or thumb to cover the rip. (If you wrap the thicker piece of tape around your finger, it will likely get in the way of the knuckle, which is uncomfortable and restricts finger range of motion). Step 2: Cut this 4-inch piece of tape in two-lengthwise. Step 1: Cut (or if you’re talented you can just rip it pretty easily) a piece of tape 3 to 4 inches long (enough to wrap around your finger or thumb 2 times). ** If the rip is deep, place a band-aid underneath the tape for more protection. Also, don’t waste your expensive, super sticky ROCK tape on these rips. ** Make sure the tape is cloth hockey tape and NOT plastic first-aid tape. All you need is 3 or 4 inches of cloth athletic tape. These guys, which often result from using a hook grip on the barbell, or even from high-rep pull-ups, bar muscle-up or toes-to-bar, aren’t usually all that deep (unless you’ve forgotten to tend to your calluses with your GRINDSTONE).Īnd when they do happen, they’re easy to deal with. Further, it helps prevent further damage to the skin when you hit the bar. It’s great for preventing rips, and it’s also great for reducing pain when you do rip. Generally speaking, regardless of the rip, tape can be useful. Versus, when someone whimpers about some superficial skin loss on his thumb from hook gripping during high-rep hang cleans, I tell him to tape it up and suck it up! When a client gets a large blood blister that turns into a deep rip in the palm of his hand, I usually recommend avoiding handwork for a day or two. |
